ELC2020 scientific and local-organizing committees are closely monitoring the international situation with regard to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and European and Spanish authorities. Due to current situation and with the aim of increasing the participation, the ELC2020 will take place in online format. The online conference will be held from 18 to 20 November 2020.
Further information about registration, new deadlines and the Scientific Programme will be announced once available. The technical secretariat will contact those participants already registered on how to proceed for refunds.
Thanks for your understanding. We wish you are all safe and healthy and we hope to see you online in November!
After the success of the first edition of the European Lidar Conference (ELC2018) in Thessaloniki, we are pleased to invite you to the second edition, which will take place online organized by the University of Granada (Spain) from the 18th to the 20th of November 2020.
This conference is organized each two years in between ILRCs, organized in five different sessions covering a wide range of state-of-the-art lidar-related topics. Each session is structured in a plenary talk and oral/poster presentations, as well as a time slot dedicated to open discussion led by the session chairs.
ELC aims to be a suitable environment where lidarists can have a deep and open discussion. During 2.5 days, experts will have the opportunity to network, find new and longstanding collaborations, exchange ideas, create novel ones, and be inspired by top-level keynote lectures, to further improve the field of lidar research... A place where we can virtually meet and discuss the very technical aspects of our work.
ELC biannually brings together European groups active in lidar research, as well as researchers from many other countries worldwide. As in the previous edition, the participation of young researchers is especially encouraged.
Note that there is no board or established committee behind ELC, just a group of scientists who mobilized their resources for this experiment. As such, the involvement of the community for the continuation of this event will be needed. The whole idea is to “keep it simple” and “make it useful”.
Save the date, we look forward to seeing you virtually!
The topics of the European Lidar Conference 2020 include:
- Lidar Technology
- Lidar Algorithms and Data Products
- Lidar applications
- Challenges - Role of lidars in Cal/Val satellite missions
- Open topic - Synergies based on lidar techniques
The virtual venue is the University of Granada. The oral, poster and discussion sessions as well as exhibitions will take place online.
Granada is music and poetry, pure monumental art, millenary culture. It is a province that reaches for the sky from the steep mountain tops of the Sierra Nevada; cities full of impressive architecture coming to rest on the high plains; white villages scattered along valleys and slopes that die on the cliffs and beaches of the Tropical Coast. The Province of Granada, a privileged tourist destination, allows the traveler to enjoy the arquitecture of the breathtaking Alhambra Palace, practice skiing in the Sierra Nevada, exploring the remote villages of the Alpujarra, trace the last frontier of Al-Andalus in the West of the Province or stay in caves that bring back to life our troglodyte past.
ELC2020 participants are invited to submit a paper to the Special Issue of the Journal ‘Remote Sensing’ (Impact factor: 4.509, Q2) dedicated to the Conference and entitled "Selected Papers of the European Lidar Conference 2020". A special discount will be offered to the conference participants.
